Hi my name is Dan Routh, I’m a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional helping established doctors in practice and research make sense of their financial lives. I’ve spent over half of my 8+ years in the financial planning profession advising private practice owners and pharmaceutical executives. I attended Virginia Tech where I obtained a business degree with a concentration in finance and a minor in applied economics. As the spouse of a practicing veterinarian, my viewpoint is unique when working with the medical community on all things money.
I work for Old Peak Finance, a growing, fee-only financial planning and wealth management firm in Chapel Hill, NC. Old Peak provides ongoing, REAL FINANCIAL PLANNING® to each of its 115+ clients – mostly busy professionals and business owners. Old Peak has focused on three things that set us apart from most financial services firms: a tailored, comprehensive, and fiduciary relationship with our clients. Working in pairs with a focus on education and continuous learning, each of the four advisors at Old Peak have obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and have/are pursuing further certifications in various knowledge areas to be able to provide the most value to our clients.
Over the last several years, I’ve been fortunate enough to be featured in numerous media outlets, including DVM360, CNBC, Business Insider, MarketWatch, and Barron’s. Alongside his colleagues, I’ve spoken locally and nationally to veterinary groups and medical schools on the topic of personal finance and business ownership. I’m an active member of the Career Development committee of VetPartners and the NCVMA Industry Council.
